Questions you may be asked

Employers and recruiters often ask questions like these. There is no single right answer: be honest, give a real example from your own work and say plainly when you have not done something yet.

  • Which machines have you operated and for how long?
  • What do you check before you start the machine each day?
  • How do you work safely when people are on foot nearby?

Staying safe on the job

Never move without a clear view or a signaller, keep the bucket low when travelling, use the seat belt and never carry passengers.

Where this role can lead

Experienced operators can move to larger machines, become a trainer or lead the plant team.
