A typical day
You read the drawings, set out the lines and build the moulds that hold concrete in shape. You fix boards or panels, brace them so they do not move, check levels and dimensions, and later strip the formwork carefully so it can be reused. Timing matters, because concrete pours follow a schedule.
Questions you may be asked
Employers and recruiters often ask questions like these. There is no single right answer: be honest, give a real example from your own work and say plainly when you have not done something yet.
- How do you check that formwork is strong enough before concrete is poured?
- How do you work safely at height when fixing panels?
- How do you read a drawing to find the dimensions and levels you need?
Staying safe on the job
Work with edge protection or a harness when above ground, never stand under suspended loads, and inspect bracing before every pour.
Where this role can lead
