Police Clearance Certificates by Country

How to get a police clearance certificate in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, the Philippines, Bhutan and Brazil: who issues it.

A Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) confirms you have no pending criminal case in your home country and is one of the most commonly requested documents for an overseas work visa. EMIGRATLY schedules yours during the Visa and Travel stage, not at intake, because most destinations only accept a PCC issued within roughly the last six months of your travel date — get it too early and you may need to redo it.

India

Apply through the Passport Seva portal or your local police station for a certificate covering your current and previous addresses. Processing is typically faster if you have held the same passport and address for several years; frequent address changes can extend verification time.

Bangladesh

Issued by your local police station, coordinated through the same process that produces your BMET clearance documentation. Keep your National ID and passport details consistent across every form — mismatches are the most common cause of delay.

Nepal

Obtained through your local District Administration Office. This is separate from, but usually requested alongside, your DoFE labor permit paperwork.

Sri Lanka

Issued by the Sri Lanka Police, and typically requested as part of the wider SLBFE registration process rather than as a fully standalone step.

Indonesia

Known locally as the SKCK (Surat Keterangan Catatan Kepolisian), issued by the Indonesian National Police (POLRI) — usually at the district (Polres) level for a standard application.

Philippines

The NBI Clearance, issued by the National Bureau of Investigation, is the standard document requested for overseas deployment and is processed alongside your DMW/OEC paperwork.

Bhutan and Brazil

Bhutan issues clearance through the Royal Bhutan Police; Brazil's equivalent is the Atestado de Antecedentes Criminais from the Polícia Federal. Neither country runs the same single centralized overseas-labor clearance system as several of EMIGRATLY's other source markets, so your TAPS specialist confirms the exact current requirement for your specific destination directly with you.

What speeds this up

  • Keep one consistent spelling of your name across your passport, ID, and every clearance document
  • Apply only once your TAPS specialist confirms your destination and travel window, so the six-month validity window doesn't lapse before you fly
  • Bring your original passport and, where required, proof of current address to the application appointment
