What should I do if I lose my passport abroad?

Check the places you usually keep it and ask anyone you may have given it to. Report it at the local police station and ask for a written copy or reference number. Contact your embassy or consulate; they can usually issue a replacement passport or an emergency travel document and will ask for proof of who you are. Tell your employer in writing and tell your EMIGRATLY specialist. Ask your employer or the local immigration office what is needed to update a visa or permit linked to the passport.

Copies help most: a photo of the passport photo page and visa pages, your ID, passport-size photographs and your contract. Do not pay anyone who says they can get a passport faster outside the official route.
